Gorgeous Coromandel wedding: Nicola and Don get married in Coromandel

Nicola grew up in Coromandel and her parents still live there so it was fitting that they chose the Mussel Kitchen in Coromandel as their wedding venue. It’s a long way from North Canterbury where her and Don live now (and a bit greener on the hills I’m guessing) so there was a lot of remote planning involved in making everything happen.
We only got to catch up with them for their engagement session on the Wednesday before the wedding but it was great to meet in person and to meet Maggie, Don’s (and now Nicola’s) fur baby.
So the wedding day was super relaxed with the girls getting ready at Nic’s parent’s place...two of Nicola’s bridesmaids were her sisters and their makeup was done by their cousin so it was a very family wedding.  And of course there’s Maggie again :-)
There was lots of time to hang out and shoot the breeze with Mum and Dad…
Oh my goodness…how beautiful is Nicola’s dress?  It’s from Louise Anderson in Christchurch
Meanwhile the guys were equally relaxed…maybe even more relaxed…
Nicola and Don had decided to see each other before the ceremony with a first look so they could have more time with their guests after the ceremony.  And their fabulous next door neighbour had offered the use of her beautiful, original homestead for the first look photos.
And there was some pretty light inside too...it wouldv'e been rude not to grab a couple of shots :-)
Before we jumped in the cars and headed up to Waitete Bay.  They know how to do pretty beaches up there on the Coromandel huh?
One of the issues that can arise with first looks is the inability to be flexible with time...we have to be super on to it to make sure that photos run to time and that the guys get to the church in time to greet arriving guests. But of course we will move heaven and earth to make sure that happens!
Their ceremony has held in the Anglican Church in Coromandel town followed by a reception at the Mussell Kitchen but I think I'm going to save the reception details shots for a separate post because they were pretty cool, and they deserve their own post :-)
Thanks Nicola and Don for having us along for the ride...it was a cool day (actually it was a crazy hot day but you guys were cool!)
