Babies and magic and ordinary miracles...

Sometimes people ask me why I photograph the bits of a baby...the tiny details, not their actual 'bits'...that would be very weird. And I think maybe it's often the baby's grandad who asks me. And usually I answer quickly and get on with what I'm doing.

But what I really want to say is this: "I have three gorgeous, big kids, teenagers or almost teenagers now and I remember when they were this small. I remember staring at their tiny hands in mine, stroking their fuzzy little heads, marvelling at their perfect fingernails and eyelashes...and I remember wondering how on earth I had been lucky enough to be a part of creating something so amazing. And I take these pictures because of these memories and these feelings."

Which might be more information than the baby's grandad was expecting.  But it's true.
