Last night I was tucking my kind-of-sick 14 year old daughter into bed and I was having a grump about the damp facecloth she'd left on the floor. She asked me if I'd do it 'pleeeeeease' since she wasn't feeling well...so I did. She says "thanks Mum, I'll wipe your bum for you when you're old!".  So there's one reason why kids are awesome ;-)

About this time of year though I'm reminded of one of the other awesome things...they make gift buying for the rellies so easy!  A couple of frames and some lovely photos of their lovely (for that split second anyway) faces and you're good to go.

(the fabulous Eskdale family)

And let's not forget how much parents love photos of their grown up children...

(the gorgeous Illingsworth family)

So of course this is a pretty busy time of year for portrait photography...I've just had a count up and I only have three Saturday sessions left in the whole of October!  If you're thinking about getting family portraits done in time for Christmas now is a good time :-)

1. Because you can use a different location or time of day

2. Because it's a great chance to experience your photographer's style of shooting

3. Because it gives you a chance to talk through any reservations you have about being photographed

4. Because it's nice to have lovely photos that aren't wedding photos

5. Robert Evans from Inside Weddings gets the last word though, he says: "Knowing and liking your photographer, is significant in the success of your wedding and will help keep you focused on the real reason you are having a wedding in the first place, each other."

Nicely said :-)

Flick me an email if you'd like to talk about how to make an engagement shoot part of your wedding photography package!
