Competitions and pushing yourself and good stuff like that

I can't believe it's time to be thinking about the Iris Awards again...already.  Didn't we just do this?

The Iris Awards are New Zealand's premier professional photography competition...the best of the best compete for the title of Phtographer of the Year.  As well as that of course it's a chance to compete with yourself and try to do better than you did last year.  It's a roller coaster of emotions of course and right now I'm in the denial phase, pretending I've still got plenty of time!  And then things keep happening to remind me...this week one of those things was photographing Loulous hair salon in Cambridge's entries for THEIR big competition.

The whole process of hanging around with creative people doing their thing and pushing their boundaries is really inspiring...which I guess is really why we do this to ourselves and enter awards in the first place.

And the bonus is the Loulou's girls said I can show you a bit of a preview...

So now they have the difficult job of selecting just one image per model to enter...and I have to get on with choosing my own awards entries :-)
