A fabulous new Waikato wedding venue...Weddings at Sutton's

I'm always excited to hear about new wedding venues around Hamilton so I jumped at the chance to meet Ann Sutton and have a look around her amazing home and garden.  The idea behind Weddings at Sutton's is that it is a hosted ceremony (and photography)  venue so you can book the garden for your ceremony knowing that Ann and her team will look after your guests while you get ready and then they can enjoy drinks and canapes in the garden afterwards while you do your photos.  They're just at Matangi so they're handy to some specialist reception venues (like Novotel or Ferrybank) and of course there'd be an awesome opportuity to utilise a second photography location on the way (yes, I'm always thinking from the photographer's point of view!)

The garden is really beautiful, and listening to Ann talk about it it's very clear that she is an artist and this garden is her canvas...in place of paint (that stays where you put it) she has plants with seasonal changes and a mind of their own!  It was while we were talking about the sesonal changes that Ann mentioned that the lavender was almost needing to be cut back and how wonderful it would be to have photos of it before it finished.  I figured we could do better than just plain garden photos so we pulled together a very basic style shoot in less than a week!

Huge thanks to Christel for modelling and doing her own hair and makeup (just as talented in front of the camera as she is behind it!) and Astra Bridal for the loan of the dress and shoes...and of course to Ann for her garden and her assisting!

If you're looking for a beautiful, relaxed ceremony venue you need to go and have a chat with Ann :-)

And we are already planning a much more elaborate syle shoot for April to showcase the Autumn colour...can't wait!
