The real love stories

It occurs to me that the real love stories are nothing like the movies.  In real life there's a lot more of the determined perseverance and a lot less of the running to catch someone at the airport.  A lot more of the messy and a lot less of the loose ends all tied up in 120 minutes.  A lot more of the actions that speak louder than words and a lot less of the heart outpouring speeches.

I'm thinking about all of this today because my Nanny and Grandad got married 65 years ago (almost to the day) and early this morning Nanny passed away.  And Grandad was there.  Their's is one of the real love stories, and it took 65 years to tell.

Back in July I was in a pre-Iris Awards funk and convinced that everything I'd ever done was crap.  My friend Vanessa suggested that I get my head out of my butt (she was slightly more polite than that) and go and photograph my grandparents.

So I did...I can't tell you how glad I am that I did...

Take lots of photos of your peoples this Christmas!

Hi Nic, Huge fan of your work!
Just read your blog about Telling Stories and then continued to look around. This particular blog brought me to tears. This is what true love is!! You can see it in their eyes. I am sincerely sorry to hear of the passing of your Nan. To capture these images is truly priceless. :( Hugs
