Jenni and Andrew's engagement portraits at Te Aroha Domain

Yesterday afternoon in the craziest wind we met up with Jenni and Andrew at the Te Aroha Domain.  Jenni and Andrew are planning a beach wedding in the middle of summer so they decided that they'd like something completely different for their engagement portraits...and Te Aroha obliged with this crazy wind and bit of cold and rain too :-)

Luckily we laugh at the rain and make pollyannaish comments like "At least we don't have to worry about harsh shadows!".

Jenni and Andrew are the sweetest couple and it was so lovely to meet them (and Andrew's family too!).  All the way home Rach and I were saying how great it is to do engagement pics before the wedding and how we wish more people did!

Engagement portraits are a great way to get an idea of what the photography will be like on the day, it gives you some cool images that you can use in invitations, guest books, signature mats etc etc and of course it's nice to have relaxed portraits of you dressed the way you normally dress.  I think the biggest advantage is in feeling relaxed about having two photographers hanging around, snapping away!  Not to mention knowing that even if it is windy and cold and (heaven forbid) raining...it can still turn out great.

These pics also feature my favourite concrete wall ever...I know, I know what kind of geek has a favourite concrete wall?  Well, this kind :-)

So I think we met the brief to create images completely different from summer beach pics ;-)

Congrats on your engagement guys...can't wait to show you the rest!

(You can check out a couple more pics on Facebook)
