And it was raining, and then it wasn't, and then there was thunder and some nervous moments!

But Michelle and Shaun had their hearts set on getting married in the garden at Sarnia Park so they held firm and lo and behold the rain stopped for their beautiful ceremony.

I love this shot of Rach's as Shaun was getting ready.  This is Yoda...Shaun is apparently not really a dog person but he says it's ok, Yoda isn't really a dog :-)

And this is also Rach's gorgeous shot from just after the ceremony...check out that sky!

Congratulations Michelle and Shaun, thanks for being such a great couple and for having us be part of everything.  We had an awesome day, we hope you did too!

Check out their album on here on Facebook...more pics coming soon!

I thought I'd blog this for a laugh...I took Sam off to the park the other day to have a play with my new flash cord.  It basically extends the flash so I can take it off camera and have a bit more control over where it points and more importantly where it casts a shadow.

So off we went, Sam with my old D70 and me with my D700 etc etc.  I felt a bit conspicuous at the park, kinda 'overdressed' if you know what I mean!  Perhaps I should get a point and shoot :-)

Anyway, it was a good practice session, and thanks to my smallest assistant!

For the past two terms I've been working with another photographer Mum to teach a Photography Electives group out at school.  These kids are super keen and just soak up the new ideas and techniques like sponges so it has been really fun.  We're almost at the end of the term so for our second to last session I thought we'd have a play with some posing using a studio strobe for light.  I set up the light and camera and got the kids to work with their partner, positioning them to create a nice portrait...not as easy as it sounds!

Of course if you don't like the result you can always blame the model :-)

Last weekend I had the privilege of second shooting a wedding with the awesome Karyn Flett of Photofever.  Jamie and Craig were married in the beautiful grounds of the Okoroire Hotel...a gorgeous, character filled wedding venue.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous, just perfect for their spring themed wedding. I just loved the daffodils in the bouquets and buttonholes!

One of things I love about second shooting is that I get to hang out with the guys more than usual and get a slightly different perspective on the whole thing.  Normally at this point I'm with the bride rushing to get to the ceremony.  It was different to be waiting with the guys instead, the anticipation builds and then finally she's here.

Second shooting also means I get to focus a little bit more on the details...

And be on the lookout for a different perspective on the main shooters shots...

And there's always an excuse to break out the fisheye :-)

Thanks so much to Jamie and Craig for having me 'tag along' and thanks to Karyn for her general awesomeness!

Goodness it has been a while since I blogged!  Here is the update on what we've been up to...

My friends at Interspeed are currently working on some exciting new stuff behind the scenes.  There's a new improved version of the CMS with an improved image uploader (looking forward to that...I think I may be the customer with the most images ever!) and some rebranding too.

In honour of this they decided they finally need a proper team photo.  We actually shot this a couple of weeks back but I've been sitting on it until they were ready for the official launch...

Check out the new and improved website here.

So of course yesterday was Daffodil Day, one of the Cancer Society's big fundraising efforts through the year.  It's always really cool to be involved in supporting such a worthwhile and important group so when Chris Hillock started talking about his latest project for the Cancer Society he was swamped by photographers wanting to help out.

We've been asked not to blog any images from our shoot (it's OK, this one isn't part of the project) and so I guess the whole thing is still all secret squirrel.  So that's all I'm going to say...that it was very cool to be involved and you'll have to wait until next years Daffodil Day to see what we were all up to.

I have been on at my friend Ness for the longest time to let me photograph her beautiful handsome boys. I love portraits because they offer us the opportunity to celebrate the relationships that are important to us, to celebrate family...to celebrate who we are at this moment in time. So I kept asking Ness because I believe it is so important.

I think she's pretty glad I did (keep nagging I mean!)

See what I mean about gorgeous?  Those eyes!

You can check out a couple more pics here on Facebook.

Kath and Lucio modelled for us a couple of weeks back when we did our cooperative model shoot/workshop thing...well the sight of them in wedding outfits apparently caused a flurry of texts and emails from their friends who all wanted to know 'WHAT??!!'...so no, they didn't actually get married! I offered to do another session for them in 'mufti' so they could celebrate their relationship without freaking out their friends :-)

It was a beautiful day here in Ham-town as we took a stroll around the University...

I really enjoyed hanging out with these guys again, they're so sweet together, a dream to photograph and heaps of fun.

Thanks guys!
