You can now view more pics from Amy and Malcolm's wedding here.

The weather today could not have been any more different to yesterday...we had perfect fluffy white clouds in a perfect blue sky for Amy and Malcolm's wedding.  They were married in a lovely ceremony at the Seventh Day Adventist church in Leamington before travelling to Hamilton Gardens for their photos and wedding reception.

How is this for picture perfect?!

Rach was second shooting today and she totally rocked it...the shot above is hers!

There are, of course, more pics to come but in the meantime here's another of my faves from my first glance through...

See more of Kyla and Tim's pics here!

Congratulations to Kyla and Tim who were married at Southwell today.  Tim teaches at Southwell (and Kyla teaches at Melville Intermediate) which is just as well because not just anyone can get married there and it is an awesome venue.  Where else can you get cool buildings, a huge variety of art work, bush, fields and LOTS of archways?

We also got totally rained on...Tim was trying to talk Kyla into an impromptu trash the dress session but her dress was way to gorgeous for that kind of carry on.  Anyway, despite the rain we got some awesome pics (if I say so myself LOL) and had a heap of fun.  Here are two faves that I pulled from the cards as I was uploading...

Thanks for having us be part of your day, have a great Christmas as Mister and Missus!

OK, I promised I had more to blog from Matt and Jess's wedding...

In June last year when we were setting our pricing for the season that we are now in the middle of we were really excited to add a new 'extra' for couples in the form of the 'Polaroid Guest Book'.  Unfortunately before we had even got to shoot one of them the Polaroid company closed its doors and so production of polaroid film stopped.  It's now nigh on impossible to get hold of and certainly very difficult to guarantee the quality of what stocks can be found.

What to do?  The Polaroid Guest Book was such a cool idea and lots of our couples wanted one!

Behold the solution...

The 'white board message guest book' (10 bonus points if you can think up a better name for it!)

Faces obscured to protect the 'innocent' (and seriously, it's just that these people didn't know they would end up on my blog so it seems only fair).

Unlike a photobooth (which we considered) it takes up no extra room at your reception and because the photographer actively seeks out guests to write a message you're way less likely to miss people because they were avoiding the camera!  We had a heap of fun collecting comments, wishes, advice etc from Matt and Jess's guests and they get the B&W prints straight away to put into a scrapbook style album as a keepsake.

We're still working out the finer details of exactly how we bundle it for next season's pricelist; whether we include the album/scrapbook etc but at the moment we're just excited to have a replacement for our 'Polaroid' people!

Yay for me!  I was really excited to tie for first place in the NZIPP Waikato/BOP regional Photographer of the Year for 2008 and I get to share the trophy with the very awesome Kerry Grant (from Rotorua).  He's won it before so he said I could have the first six months with the trophy :-)

I also got the prize for the highest scoring wedding print (actually it was two of my prints, each with the same top score), so that was pretty cool too :-)  Here they are...

There are some more pics floating around from the prizegiving tonight, I'll upload a couple when I get them (hard to believe in a room full of photographers we only managed to find two point and shoot cameras!)

Here we go...thanks Chris Parker for the flattering angle ;-)

I love Puketaha School, what a cool event!  Congratulations to Scott Wren who took out first place (spot him as the best man from Kasey and Ollie's wedding a couple of weeks back!)

Congratulations to everyone who got involved and gave it a go.  And a huge 'Well done!' to the organisers too.

All the pics are now online...check them out here

Check out more of Jess and Matt's pics here.

What an awesome wedding!  Gorgeous day, gorgeous couple, lovely families...a have the best job don't I?  I was really excited to have my friend Karyn from Photofever second shooting, she is a very busy and talented photographer in her own right (and fellow NZIPP member) and it was so cool to have her along for the ride!  Check out her blog for more pics soon, and I'll have more here in a couple of days too.

Anyway, Matt and Jess...two truly beautiful people, and so in love, I have to say they made our job pretty easy!  Rosenvale is a great venue with lots of cool places for photos; gardens, paddocks and rustic sheds.  Photographer heaven!

I have more to blog about this wedding but it will have to wait coz I need to get going to the Puketaha Duathlon!

I've been working away on a very special project for a couple of months now and it's nearing completion.  My plan was to photograph each member of my family with a thing, or in a place, that is important to them and get them to talk about why they chose what they chose.  The more I got into it the more I realised that I didn't really need the words, that most of the time the pictures stood alone.

Some of the time I suggested a place or thing, sometimes I let them choose (particularly the kids, they find it really easy to pinpoint a favourite thing).

So here are some of them...

My grandparents

My son

My Step-dad

And my nephew
